Duties

Help
  • You will serve as an Electronics Technician in the Operations Transmitter Desk Watch (N31), Operations Division (N3) at NCTAMS LANT Detachment Cutler, ME.
  • You will operate, maintain, test, overhaul, modify, align, and repair Very Low Frequency transmitter system such as Complex Alternating Current and Direct Current control systems, High Voltage breakers, transformers and transfer equipment.
  • You will operate, maintain, test, install and repair audio, IT, and digital communications equipment/interface devices such as Ethernet and Fiber optic network devices, multiplexing and de-multiplexing equipment, and quality control equipment.
  • You will monitor and configure application interfaces.
  • You will monitor overall system performance and status: acknowledge, silence, respond and report alarms and alerts in the application IAW site Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • You will troubleshoot system hardware and software IAW site SOP’s.
  • You will prepare and maintain daily maintenance logs, reports, and records.
  • You will perform functional IT operation and maintenance duties.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You must have 20/20 vision or vision correctable to 20/20 with corrective lenses, must not be color blind and have good hearing.
  • You must be able to lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds, occasionally will be required to lift items in excess of 40 pounds and up to several hundred pounds using weight handling equipment.

Qualifications

Applicant must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by:

-Experience testing and repairing electronic and IT Equipment.
-Experience defining incidents, problems, and events in logs, reports, and trouble ticket systems.
-Experience operating low-level maintenance duties on a network.
-Experience applying guidelines and policies to identify problems and recommend changes for solution.

This position is within the Work Category TECHNICIAN & ADMIN SUPPORT at Work Level FULL PERFORMANCE, Series and Grade GG-0856-07.

Education

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION: Applicants may substitute the following level of education for the specialized experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position and is directly related to the work of the position:

One full year of graduate education meets the requirements.

Equivalent combination of graduate level education and experience may be used to meet qualification requirements.

All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.

Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the qualification requirements if the applicant can provide documentation indicating that the foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States.

In accordance with DoDI 1400.25, Volume 3005, Section 3.15, all employees newly appointed to a CES position will serve a 3-year probationary period. Permanent and term employees currently serving in a probationary period in the competitive service or a probationary or trial period in the excepted service will complete the period as prescribed in their original conditions of employment in the new CES position if they transfer without a break in service or are promoted, demoted, or reassigned to a CES position.

This position is a DoD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 U.S.C. 1599f.

The Cyber Interagency Transfer Authority (CITA) permits movement of CES employees appointed under Section 1599f of Title 10 U.S.C. and excepted service employees appointed under Schedule A, Section 213.3106(b)(11) of Title 5 CFR, into cyber workforce positions in the competitive service and movement of competitive service employees into DoD Cyber Workforce positions within the Military Departments and Defense Agencies.
